Or Franco?
Or Mussolini?
Many replies... so let's cut to the chase shall we.
ANTIFA. Did you know that ANTIFA groups popped up in those times?
So let me ask you one more time... Have you looked at ANTIFA during that time?

They made them feel good about themselves?.
And I don't know German but just watching clips Hilter must have been a hell of speaker.

Because mass media told them that all of the "Cool Kids" were doing it.
Not much has changed.

There isn't a simple 1 size fits all answer to that question.
Germany was suffering a terrible economy, high unemployment, and was resentful of the conditions imposed on it by the treaty of Versailles at the end of WW1.
Hitler played to all of these and slanted his rhetoric towards the grievances of the German people.
He was a very strong public speaker who knew how to connect with his audience.

I'm not sure Hitler ever had a majority.
He had widespread support, though.
The answer is the depravity, poverty and hopelessness of Weimar Germany, and the looming threat of Bolshevism from the East, and inside Germany itself.

Desperate times in Germany due to tough punishment for WWI. Bringing the people out of poverty and hunger won them over. He then murdered his opposition and no one was left to challenge him as his true intentions became clear.

Germany, almost 100 years ago has as little to do with contemporary Western society as the Roman Republic in 100 BC had to do with 10th Century AD Vikings.

Love the down vote from our resident socialist.
Have you ever looked into the decade leading up to the rise of these people? This would apply to Stalin too.
It seems there was this group hanging around......

I advise you to read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich: A History of Nazi Germany". It's very complex why it happened.

Post WWI depression and desperate people. He played to that every night on CNN.

Why did people flock to Obama? or Roosevelt? or Reagan, or John Kennedy? It's whoever is there at that time.

That fricking mustache obviously, irresistible to both male and females.

True. If one of those were to excecute all political opposition and consolidate power I guess people would be asking the same about us a century later

That's bullshite. What we saw in Charlottesville last week was straight out of the 20s with the Brownshirts vs the Reds. I highly encourage you to read "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" even if it is as long as the Bible. One of the single most important history books ever written.

Cuz they were were dumb?
Not sure anyone really flocked to Franco. It's just that all the other Fascist generals died.
