Why do they keep extending unemployment benefits a year?
Serious question.

IMHO, you get 3 months. PERIOD...

A year? Give me a break.

Completely agree! And this is not one year, this an extension to what seems like forever!

Because its an easy way to keep a segment of the population under control.

Because Obama and his entourage, and the flunkies in the House and Senate have absolutely no clue how to get the economy started towards any semblance of recovery. In addition to that, it is good for creating a newer class of dependants on govt. like none other in history. We are the generation(s) of bread and circuses. If you want to piss off the populace let the tv go out across all of America, then they will be pissed.

Wasn't it recently two years? 99 weeks, or something like that.

I think they're just extending the cutoff to 99 weeks for another year, not sure though.
