You could add George Wallace to that list. They did not manage to kill him but I suspect he wished they had. It ended his rise to national prominence that's for sure. The life of constant pain and going from a vibrant man to a wheelchair bound waif was punishment enough for any sins he committed.

You can say anything you wish about the man, but he might have been the greatest pure politician of his day. He was about to cause the Democrat (imagine that) Party one hell of a headache in that 72 convention. Until Arthur Bremer.

But those were all done by lone crazy people.

Much different from someone high up in government putting a hit on a political opponent. That's what people see as far-fetched.

Anyone putting out a hit in these circumstances would not want any investigation pointing their way, so they won't send in a team of hit men. They'd do it the way it was done.

Character assassination is a better tool than actual assassination these days. If you kill someone, they become a martyr and are generally revered. If you call them a racist, sexist, literally Hitler or whatever, you can tarnish their reputation for life.

They weren't crazy. To suggest so also absolves them of some guilt.

There is a difference between JFK and Seth Rich. JFK would be a martyr because he was a nationally known figure but Seth Rich is a nobody. Political organizations can absolutely kill nobodies.

There will never be proof if the people who are charged with looking into it have a vested interest in finding nothing.

Cop out? I was just pointing out the obvious lack of intelligence in the post.
