Comeys boss is the deputy AG and then the AG.

To not bring impropriety in, Sessions recused himself from all potential investigations into the Trump campaign back in January.

Just about 2 weeks ago the deputy AG was confirmed.

He investigated Comey and found his actions to recommend dismissal.

Sorry prog filth, you wanted Sessions to recuse himself. He did. So Trump had to wait for the prog filth to confirm the deputy AG.

The timing makes perfect sense unless you're a moron.

Has there actually been a single poster on this board who has melted over this firing? The number of threads seems oddly unwarranted.

ETA: Toddy ruins it. Carry on.

Sally wasn't going to fire him.

Trump had to wait until Comey had a new boss.

Why is this so difficult to understand?

NO...NO...NO.

No room for facts when you are feigning outrage over Trump doing exactly what you wanted.

This is actually the best answer I have seen yet to why he was fired.

It is spot-on and too much common sense for the MSM, CNN or democrats to grasp, truly. They will say Trump is Nixon muh Russians; because, they want to control who Trump picks as Comey's replacement. Because day skeerd crapless it will be someone who revisits Obama and HRC.

It took over 3 months for the deputy AG to get 90+ votes to get confirmed. You can blame your own party for all the theatrics and milking out Trumps appointments.

Lol much more believable than "Trump is trying to cover up his Russian connection so he fired the Director of the FBI while he is investigating him"

No person, not even a child, would think that this would make the Russian investigation go away.

His text never recommends dismissal.

And if Trump had just sacked Comey in January AND never tweeted the baseless 'OBAMA WIRETAPPED ME!!!!' shite, the 'muh Russians!!!!' narrative would have gone away by now.

Instead of platitudes, why don't you offer up something of substance.

If Sessions hadn't recused himself in January, what would you have said? You'd have likely said "RUSSIAN INFLUENCE!!!1!1!"

If Trump fired Comey after Sessions recused himself, what would you have said? You'd have likely said "RUSSIAN INFLUENCE!!!11!!"

So Trump does the exact right thing. Sessions recuses, Trump doesn't fire Comey, the Deputy AG gets bi-partisan approval and recommends terminating Comey, so Trump complies. Now everyone is screaming "RUSSIAN INFLUENCE!!1!!"

At least admit to yourself that no matter what happened short of Comey finding and releasing evidence of "RUSSIAN INFLUENCE!!1!!!!1" you wouldn't be satisfied.

You are right, it never says "get rid of this bum" but if you read the letter, the intent is that Comey had stepped over to many lines and had lost the confidence of key people at Justice. Once you put something like that letter out, whether in the government or the private sector, get your resume ready. The DAG spells out a compelling case for sacking Comey.

Hindsight is 20/20. But Trump suffers from Roy Cohn disorder in that he never lets a slight or accusation go unchallenged.....don't know about Roy Cohn? Read up on him it is very entertaining .
