Who here has ever crossed party lines? When? And for what reason?

I'm curious to learn a little about what it takes to change someone's political opinion. For me, I have always been a republican, but if there was ever a strong libertarian candidate running for president and doing well in the polls, I would probably make that jump.

I have opposed D's and R's, both for personal convictions.

First ever election 19 years old 2008 the psyop mimdfrick obsma targeted at the youth worked on me from a republican family.
The debates were held on campus and I was active GF at the time and I thought we were ahead of curve.

Was fooled just as they planned.
Though McCain was a piece of shite too.

I voted for Paul in 2012 but that was another begrudge vote. Because I definitely wasn't supporting a bs floundering Obama reelection but didn't like mittens

Trump was my first true republican vote.
And I hope he continues on the righteous path he has started.

The two party system is flawed.
If you bet on both teams to win you can't lose. And that's what the establishment has gone forever.

I only support certain republicans amd think a few should be replaced in upcoming elections

I voted democrat Kip Holden for BR Mayor and LA Lt Governor.

He's basically a 90s centrist democrat that doesn't give a shite about identity politics and just wants to run a sane fiscal ship.

I absolutely hate Trump, almost as much as I hate the established parties. Yet I still voted for Trump because I really did not want Hillary as our president

Voted for Obama in 2008 and 2012 for personal reasons.

Never thought I'd cross the aisle again, but I ended up voting for Hillary at the last minute. I just thought it was honestly time for a woman president, and this seemed like a good time to keep riding the wave of finally having a minority in office to continue to make the rest of the world proud of us.

I think I will stick with republicans though from now on, Obama kind of disappointed me with some of his what I felt was extreme liberalism.

I've crossed over in a few local elections where I had strong opinions for or against a given candidate (usually against). Don't think I could ever do it in a presidential race. Even when I flirt with the idea of voting Libertarian, I end up voting for the R nominee for president.

So you "crossed the aisle" to vote for Obama twice, then seeing how swimmingly well that was working you jumped on pantsuit? You know the "phuck one goat" theory? You are a serial goat phucker.

First and only time I crossed party lines for a major office was when I voted for Edwin Edwards over David Duke in 1991 and I'm glad I did.

I voted for Regan twice - we needed a change. It's a shame the republicans didn't have a Regan in 2016 - of course, he would have never made it to the general - probably came in behind Jeb/Mario in the primary.

I do it quite often. I'm not a sheep. Every politician has a chance to court my vote.

I've voted for a number of Democrats below the state level. Ultimately anything below state level, the talent of the person matters much more than their party.
