I do hope that another war is not necessary but the U.S. may not have a choice. I salute all of the Korean War Vets and thank them for their service.

My paternal grandfather fought in Korea and my great uncle did as well. My great uncle was awarded a Purple Heart for being wounded during his service.

My great uncle was awarded a Purple Heart for his service.

My dad has one of these, and I don't think he looks at it like an award, but I know what you meant...

You get a purple heart for being wounded, not serving.

My fathers only brother served in Korea during the war but I have no idea who he was attached with and if he saw combat. EDIT- I just googled his obit and he won the Bronze Star / Army Air Corp.

Old fishing friend was a Tank commander at Chosin. Said was the coldest he has ever been. Had to park tank on rocks so the tracks would not freeze to ground.

My favorite Uncle fought in Korea. He was wounded and nearly died. I'm happy to say that he's alive and well. He lives in Asheville. He's a great guy.

My dad, a Marine Corp vet, who served in Korea. He just turned 88 two weeks ago and he doesn't like to talk much about his time spent in Korea.

He has mentioned a few times how cold it was there though.
