I'm thinking Diane Sykes. For one, it's a woman. Two, she is very pro voter-ID, which could help offset an easing of mass deportations. Three, I think she wouldn't have a problem getting confirmed.

There are already three women on the Court. All three are liberal as can be.

I see no need for Trump to pick a Justice by means of identity politics.

I want a Constitutional conservative. Preferably not Harvard educated and not from either coast of the US.

My money is Neil Gorsuch, and my hedge bet is on Bill Pryor.

Sykes and Pryor fit that mold. Gorsuch went to Harvard law.

Cruz may get a later nomination, but Trump and the staff have been pretty emphatic both during and after the campaign that the nomination will come from the list.

He is next. Trump limited himself to the list for this pick.

You know, I wouldn't mind that either. It's been a good long while since we've had someone from another branch of government make the jump.

I think it's useful to have institutional knowledge on the SCOTUS.

This may well be the case. I'd like to see Cruz on SCOTUS, if not now, then certainly will be disappointed if he is not the next one.

i really like Ted Cruz just for the potential lulz

hopefully if he was given the freedom of never having to be elected again he'd drop the evangelical routine

Cruz is Harvard trained, right?

All the current Justices are Harvard or Yale trained. There seems to be a groupthink mentality on the court. We need different perspectives.

I just want it to be a locked down conservative. You can gamble a little more with sexier picks down the road.

Pryor would be fine, although I'm not sure anyone has been especially impressed with him on the 11th. Nothing against him though.

I'd love Cruz or Willett, just because I think either would be a very reliable conservative voice and both have the sharpness and wit to fill a little bit of the void of Scalia's absence. Don't think either is realistic though.

Robert Jackson was the last non-lawyer on the Court. I think he was seated from like early 40's to the late 50s or so.
