Kids from a public high school here in Portland went on a field trip to Warner Pacific College. Only Asian, Latinio, Indian, and Black kids were allowed to go, though.

When a white kid asked to go, she was told that the trip was only for kids who were "underrepresented" in the college system.

What do you think of this?

I'd say then if I'm not already in the college then by definition I'm under-represented. frick liberals and their overt racism.

They've gone all in on judging people by their color. It's just a really fascinating that they don't recognize that they've become what they said was awful for several decades

I'd say, "Run like hell."
And be grateful that this "institution of higher education" revealed its true colors before you enrolled.

I looked it up. Warner Pacific went from 12.5% minority kids in 2007 to 40% in 2014. The last two freshman classes at Warner Pacific (2015 and 2016) have been over 50% minorities. Are they getting tax dollars for this?

That's overt racism.

Essentially telling one child that they can't go on the tour because there are too many people that look like her already.

The thing about being a minority, is that by definition you are not the majority. No matter how unfair you think that is, it's just the truth...

What would be proper representation for minorities on campus? Should it be 50/50 white/black when black people make up 17% of the population?

Is it about proportional representation? Because over 50% of Asian Americans have at least a bachelors degree, far more than any other demographic. Should we exclude them from college tours because they are "over represented?"

How about if you want to go to college fricking go to college. Who cares if you are white, black, or brown. Equal opportunity is the goal, forcing equal results is itself discriminatory.
If you want to bitch about white people being everywhere you have a long road ahead of you living in the US. There is a dominant majority (#s wise) in every nation on earth and in turn everyone else there is a minority. its the same shite everywhere.

Not surprised, happens all the time, and will continue to happen until you know what hits the fan and makes a huge stink! Doesn't sound like the kind of place a white kid would want to attend anyway, but still.....

I'm sure the white kids happily obliged and applauded the school for its bravery and inclusive environment.

Isn't that how they're taught?

I think that due to the negative optics that this creates, the people in charge are incapable of thinking past their emotions.
Because of this they should not be given control over anything other than their own lives.

This is a great comment but you had to be here in the 60's to appreciate the full weight of that comment.

I feel bad for them but they're parents want to live there.

They get to reap what they sow.

Hopefully those kids grow up on the conservative side and change this BS for the generation after them.

The weight of that comment isn't lost on anyone, regardless of their generation. History, lessons learned.

What's your point? Justification?

No way! Every liberal says that there's no such thing as racism against whites.
