I'm confused, aren't we supposed to be the free market capitalism party? When did forcing companies to stay in the US become anything other than a democratic cornerstone?

Doesn't make much sense.

I didn't know TRUMP was forcing anyone to stay.

2015-2016

Before that, it seemed to be an argument mostly exclusive the the FAR left.

When Dems and GOP became more concerned about every person in the world rather than their own citizens.

Plus, the Republican Party was in lock-step with the Dems on this issue. The GOP didn't want Trump anymore than libtards did.

By increasing the cost of their goods?

When did inflating the cost of goods benefit Americans?

When the argument became about a small percentage of the population while generally ignoring the entire consumer base in America.

Why not create an incentive for companies to stay? Does anybody honestly believe that he'll cut the corporate tax, regulations, etc?

this has always been the inherent downside to electing Trump

Early on during the campaign Trump met with T. Boone and they discussed Boone's enamor with natural gas (he has made huge investments) to very little fanfare and now with OPEC agreeing to cut production and raise prices

today Ivanka meets with Gore re. global warming; this may be the signal that Trump is willing to meddle in the market, create price controls, assess tariffs, or give Boone the tax breaks he seeks

many people will applaud this

I think a lot of people are misusing the word 'protectionism' in a very wrong and destructive manner.

Its more like 'fair' trade.

American business & industry is not asking for any special favors when it comes to trade but rather a LEVEL playing field.

For decades now, the political elites in DC(both major parties) have been selling the American worker down the river for self promotion and personal enrichment.

China & Japan have been dumping cheap steel & other goods onto the world markets for a long time.

China, among others, have been manipulating their currency for a long time in order to boost their own exports & limit their imports. Protectionism.

Lets level the 'playing field' when comes to world trade. I think Trump may succeed in that but its going to be a long hard battle. There is huge, mucho amounts on money AND power on the line here.

Why do you think even the GOP establishment has been fighting so hard against Trump?

Will Trump succeed? IDK. Maybe he can maybe he can't but we can no longer sit around idly and watch the greatest nation ever in the histore' go down.

I know that American industry, business and the good ole American worker can kick some tail.

I'll support free market capitalism and free trade when conservatives run on eliminating regulations and wage laws to the level that we could compete with China. Guess what? Nobody could win with that platform.

So this is the next best thing. Tariffs on imports while reducing regulations to incentivize companies to stay while not touching minimum wage.

This is a step in the right direction. A way to roll back some harmful things done the past 30 years. We have to start chipping away like the Dems do, not arguing pure idealogical fantasies

Remember the D establishment didn't want Bernie, and nobody on the right should have wanted him either.
