When did this trend begin and who? From what I have read, JFK was very American so it def occurred after him. I do not believe it happened under Bill Clinton either....it had to be Obama.

IMO, it's not that the Dems are pro immigrant. It's the fact that they are anti Republican on whatever stance the Rs take.

beat me to it, but it is deeper than that

it is when they realized that they could TRADE immigrant voters for white working class voters

cuz now they do not even have to pretend to care about the working man

backifired on them this round though, they did not ever dream that this policy could ever hope to crack their "blue wall" of states - esp Penn

It is all about the votes. They will do anything to keep their sorry asses in office.

If a lot of lower economic class immigrants had not flooded the country in the last 50 years the dems would REALLY not be winning anything now.

It is not a legitimate concern, it is an Anarchist tool to the destruction of our culture and society. The point is to dilute and degrade our essence, our values and culture, to the point that we acquiesce voluntarily to the loss of who we are.

My 2 cents, we are at war.

The first time they heard the word "amnesty" and they figured it's a way to get votes.

Obama.

When the Dems talk about "everything we've accomplished over the past 8 years",they are referring to "Open Boarders" immigration and "Transgender Bathrooms" laws.

Not exactly The New Frontier .

LBJ would have had some choice names for the immigrants. He was a crude SOB.

Surely you see both sides do this correct?

I'd agree in the last 5-10 years the dems have become way better (or worse) with it.

As soon as they realized republicans were making good points about immigration.

Humanity comes before America---I think that's how it works.

But I also agree with some of the arguments Reps make on the debate and I'm glad they are there to keep things balanced.

LBJ and the Dem majority Congress started it when immigration quota priorities were changed in the 1960s. It grew momentum after that.

This. Then fast forward a half-century later and the other points above about replacing the lower class/union "white" worker and voter. Problem being, of course, that they overplayed their hand here in demonizing whitey to the point they lost this voting bloc to Trump.

What is also funny is that this is the same racist Democrat Party that made marijuana illegal a half-century prior to this. Why? Because they used it as a way to deport those damn Mexicans.

So you see America, in this post above, I've pointed out not one, but TWO more problems created by they Democrat party that someone else again has to fix.

You have two opposing groups here you know?

Environmental liberals and the Social Justice progs.

The Tree huggers see unchecked/open immigration as pollution and the degradation of our limited natural resource, while the SJW's only see the goal of browning out white America at any cost with multiculturalism/globalism.

The tree huggers are drowned out at the moment by the cause of the day movement.
