He was as #NeverTrump as it got until he won the election then all of a sudden reversed his stance

I don't trust him, sounds like a snake or a chameleon

Politically. Ben Shapiro is still an Israel first neocon type.

I have a good memory

I remember who the NeverTrump crowd was

Any time Fox News brings on a former NeverTrumper to talk about things I change the channel

Katie Pavlich, Jonah Goldberg, Ken Cuccinelli, etc I don't trust them one bit

I think a lot of people here are media/political personality obsessed. Every new smart guy who can intelligently debate and defend positions and ideas a lot of posters agree with is hailed as the second coming of Aristotle. We have threads devoted to Tucker Carlson every night.

He said he understood people voting for Trump to be done with Hillary. Fine by me

Ben Shapiro is best Shapiro

Also his position on Trump has remained perfectly consistent. He never voted for him, he will praise when Trump does something good, and admonish when Trump does something "bad". He has admitted that so far Trump seems to be proving him wrong and he hopes his entire presidency plays out that way.

To be fair I don't think it's unique to the poliboard, but it's bad here. I remember when Jon Stewart really first blew up in the early 2000s when I was in college and it was just like that. ie "did you hear what Jon Stewart said last night." You still see it occasionally on here and elsewhere (I only post here) with Bill Maher and John Oliver. Everyone always seems to be looking for flag-bearer for their cause. They also tend to make single individuals unduly responsible for everything bad in the world (like Soros).

I think most people are just glad to see faces to political stances and discourse which were once relegated to your private thoughts or anonymous message boards.

I think Shapiro is okay. He makes pretty good points but his hardline stances sometimes fail to address the nuances and complexities which plague social issues in a society as diverse and large as ours.

While he is a minority voice in the mainstream press, I'm not sure I'd define his ideas as so controversial that they were [until recently] relegated to private thoughts and message boards. I can dig up archives from conservative publications and student papers saying the same things from the time the internet became popular.

I like the battle he's waging with campus liberal orthodoxy, but again, that's not new. Maybe he's bringing more light to it but I'm not sure how much that's filtering out beyond a niche audience who were already well aware of the problem.

He never reversed his stance at all. He's still very critical of Trump every day.

I have been a huge fan of Shapiro for several years.

If you are a supporter of your country it is rarely good to take very seriously someone with dual citizenship when it comes to political matters. Their ideals are coming from a place that yours do not so they have different motivation for them than you do. So while his ideas may sound good, he is always accepted in another country no questions asked while you are not.
