If standing for the Anthem is not required by their contract, can they be "fired?
I disagree with WHY they are not standing. But if they were not standing in protest of the NSA or some other government attack on our liberty I would support them.

Fan response is all that matters.
I think everyone expected the owners to say this, especially NY and SF.

The responses from the commissioner, owners and player so far are incredibly naive in what's about to unfold.

Here's how you fix this whole thing. Announce over the PA before the game, "please stand, sit, or kneel to honor our national anthem."

Tamil Rice had and reached for a gun. It was fake but the officer could not tell because the orange tip was removed or colored. Sounds like suicide by cop. I'd say it was unfortunate but justified. The cop could not tell it was fake.
Philander Castile had a gun in his pocked. He told the cop he had a gun. The cop told him not to reach for it. What happened between them and the time Castile was shot I don't know. The cop was charged and later acquitted. I don't have any other facts. But that's how our justice system works.
