Do you think the US can trust him or do you believe we should only keep our eyes on him?

Trust and cooperate when possible and advantageous.
Skeptical and reactive when not.

This goes for any other nation.

Well he's a politician. So the answer should be immediately no.

Then you add his history (high ranking KGB in communist Soviet Union, corruption, dictator like actions, etc.) then the answer should be even more obvious.

We can still make something positive out of the his untrustworthiness, but we shouldn't entrust him in that.

Sure, but from just a basic "trust or distrust" all else being equal, he should be solid in the distrust column.

Now obviously incentives can make one more or less trustworthy, but those should he considered from the baseline.

OP made a pretty binary set of choices, just answering the question. Absolutism in foreign policy is pretty retarded, IMO.

There will be times we mutually benefit each other, and times where they have alterior motives. And vice versa as well. It's trump and putins job to win these head games and accomplish what is in the best interest of their people.

So no neither should trust each other completely, but that doesn't mean we can't work together

Good point. But you chose both choices. Wishy-washy

He must be smarter than he looks.

The Dems have been trying to play the Rooskies as if they were still the USSR. No one GAF about that.

Surely the Russians know -they- can't play that way either.

Trust, but verify.

Do NOT trust EVER, but cooperate where MUTUALLY beneficial (but not at the expense of our allies).

Remember he is ex-KGB and that is like having a tatoo. It is ingrained in you and can never been taken off (but it can be hidden with some makeup).

He is NOT our friend, he hates the west, brainwashes his people and is corrupt as hell.

Don't trust him.

My stance on Putin is American prosperity first by any means and any temporary or long term alliances. If our goals allign with Putin's in a specific field-namely the warding off of the infeftion of islamism on western civilization- then I see no reason to see him as an enemy.

What direct threat has Putin or Russia levied against the USA even tangentally? Honestly, give one example with rock solid results.

Not married, tons of bastard children, runs a beautiful country, former member of KGB. With those credentials he sounds like a guy you can trust, I'll invite him over for a steak dinner.
