What if Slaves Were Never Brought to America?

Obviously this is a very open ended question. But interesting to think about. Would we be here today in the same situation sans most of the African american community? The south certainly would be a much different place. I would assume our welfare state would not be nearly as bad but from an industrial/economic standpoint would we be as advanced?
Just something interesting to think about.

But really lebrons james would be killing it in Africa but with no infrastructure to buy expensive shoes and tickets he'd be crazy poor, fascinating thing to ponder
