I mean the intelligence community calling fake news "credible", leaking it to various news organizations and doing everything they can to delegitimize the incoming president is probably not good for job security, no?

Would you be surprised if Trump cleaned house at any of the "intelligence" agencies?

I'm sure he'll replace most if not all of the political appointees at the top. Career Civil Service and Military are going to be a tougher nut to crack.

If they're no more competent than the fact that they can't determine if someone has been to Prague then they need purging.

He needs to be the boss.

In the current configuration, the tail is certainly trying to wag the dog.

He needs to go back to cold war classified leak identification and fire/ prosecute anyone leaking such info.

He won't simply be able to re-designate or re-classify them to be window washers. The chiefs he appoints will have a lot of power to shape how their organizations are run, but they can't simply purge them of the knowledge resident in the workforce. We need that knowledge. Language skills and regional and topical subject matter expertise don't develop overnight. And the Cold War fossils hanging around some of these agencies aren't going anywhere. They survive from administration to administration because they know how to dodge bullets.

That never went anywhere. If you get caught leaking classified you'll have more problems than being out of a job. It's the catching that's the tricky part.

Military would be easier I think. Those in the military have absolutely no choice in where they go or what they do- all have to follow the orders given.

I am sure there are many in Mosul that could appreciate the help of American military. The choice should be simple if there's some he wants to fire but can't. Resign or go to Iraq and help the Kurds.

The only correct answer to the OP is "near zero".

Sorry.
