Freedom, freedom of speech, freedom of expression, freedom of choice to worship or not, however one pleases, freedom to protest, stand, sit, kneel or sleep during the National anthem, all of these and more are why our brave fighting men and women serve our country. They fight to preserve these fundamental rights, no matter how abhorrent they may seem.

This is the promise of America.

It's too bad that so many in and out of the service (and the majority on this board) don't understand this basic truth.

You actually support a bunch of millionaire's protesting the National Anthem.

Sure, they have the freedom to do it. It's too bad they lack to wisdom to know they shouldn't.

Nobody is taking away - or even suggesting taking away - anyone's rights.

If you have the right to protest, shouldn't I have the right to call you out on it if I disagree?

Actions have consequences.

They have the right to kneel. You are arguing with yourself.

Others have the right to find it distasteful and even :gasp: disprectful to kneel during the national anthem.

Rights for errybody.

And when has Trump stopped any of this?

Sounds like you're trying to squash the freedom of "so many".

You might want to include college administrators and faculty in that as well.

No one is advocating that the players should not be allowed to kneel or whatnot.

What the "patriots" seem to fail to realize is that by embarking on the "loyalty crusade", they are practicing the most extreme form of POLITICAL CORRECTNESS, and it will be just as ineffective as when Libs do it.

My issues with the debate and this board:

They were either silent or went through the most insane level of mental gymnastics I have ever seen when Trump criticized Mccain for getting caught AND when he insulted a Gold Star Family. This isn't about the military for them, its about what makes them uncomfortable.

Our President saying they should be fired. That doesn't sound like a free market to me.

The drunktards here who stumble around with borderline alcohol poisoning during the national anthem when they are there as fans. How is that respectful?

Otherwise, they can be upset about the kneeling all they want. They have the right to. Just be consistent for Christ's sake.

The players have every right to sit, stand, kneel, or do whatever they want during the playing of the national anthem, nor should there be a law against doing that. However, it does not mean that doing so is disrespectful and people can call them out on it. They should stand out of respect, but they cannot be forced to. I've never argued that fact. There is no law against farting in an elevator, but still doing it is disrespectful to the others in there with you, so most people would not do that because of that fact.

What it boils down to is class and respect. These players don't have it.
