WH Spokesman attacks media in first address

quote:
Spicer used his first official appearance in the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room to denounce news organizations’ focus on the inaugural crowd size as “shameful and wrong.” "This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe,” Spicer said.
quote:
“Some members of the media were engaged in deliberately false reporting,” Spicer said. He explained that one reporter “falsely tweeted out that the bust of Martin Luther King, Jr. had been removed form the Oval Office… This was just plain wrong.” The false report, which Spicer described as “irresponsible and reckless,” came from TIME magazine pool reporter Zeke Miller:
Maggie Haberman of the NYT is freaking out because Spicer stated that the press would be held accountable
quote:
Spicer, before walking out without questions, says they will begin to hold the press "accountable." No idea what that means.

I'm still not tired of the winning.

No one had numbers, because the National Park Service, which controls the National Mall, does not put any out...
Okay and fair enough.

[But]This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration -- period -- both in person and around the globe.
oh and
quote:
At a speech to CIA workers earlier Trump extraordinarily claimed that 1.5 million people turned up to his inauguration on Friday night.
It was a gross exaggeration compared to what his press secretary said at the briefing when he claimed that just 770,000 people had turned up.
a) Fake news media, b) fake Trump, of c) fake press conference, d) all of the above?
A circus already, on day two

Don't know (or care, really) if this was the most watched in person. I watched it, and the Mall certainly looked packed.
I absolutely have no doubt that this was the most watched inauguration on a global scale; I imagine it was the most streamed event ever. That's just the nature of evolving media. I watched it on my laptop in my kitchen, I imagine many, many millions also did similar worldwide.
WAY off-topic, but I remember the scifi show Buck Rogers once did something with the Olympics. It was held in their modern version of New Orleans (which was an undersea city by the 25th Century), and the events were held in small rooms with no spectators- everyone watched it on TV, or what then was assumed to be TV (we'd now say streaming, I guess).
For such a cheesy show, I imagine they were dead right on both the eventual fate of Nola, and of "events".
