Look at some of the homophobic comments in this thread.
Personally, I'm just pissed that it's an issue at all. I support gay marriage, but it's far from a pressing issue of our day. It's just another wedge issue that insults the intelligence of humanity, gay and straight (probably deserved) and deflects from FAR more important issues.
I agree this SHOULDN'T be news for the above reasons. Unfortunately, the republicans have to resist it or their base will hang them. The issue has been cultivated by the left for this reason.
[quote]Catch my drift?
Does the left have anything to run on but social issues? Don't you think that your reality TV-like adherence to social issues is not only playing to the lowest common denominator, but expanding it? Do you think that repeatedly telling minorities and everyone else that racism/classism/sexism is the reason for EVERYTHING that stands in their way isn't going to bring about some really dire, violent consequences. Are you aware that your frenzied, juvenile tactics do exactly the opposite of what you claim they are supposed to do - divide rather than unite? Finally, if you do know all of that, how the frick do you sleep at night?
Even your fiscal platforms are just repackaged social issues. "Punish the rich." Simple math defeats the most basic tenets of your classist proposals, but you continue to hammer them just so you can get elected and with no regard to the long-term consequences.
I hope the angry mob you're cultivating comes and gets you along with all of the imagined "evil" people whom you claim are the reason for all the ills of the world. I hope you die with your democrat voter ID card in your hand, screaming "No. See? I'm one of the good ones. Don't get me. Get those other guys." Then, maybe just for an instant, you'll see what a true disease your "philosophy" really is.
But, something tells me that would suit you just fine. After all, we can't have people of different races, cultures and sexual orientations getting friendly with each other. If they did, they might come to a common understanding and implement policies that go against your oh so golden "plan."
