I hadn't heard, but RSBN is reporting this.

Anybody affected (or infected)?

Under TRUMP the NSA/CIA are finally attacking foreign countries instead of U.S.

Hospitals in England. But I've only see headlines while waiting in shopping lines, and haven't had time to read anything.

Apparently so. I got an email from my employer to the whole company this afternoon.

It was a ransomware attack with victims reported in 74 countries. Most of the attack seemed to be centered in the UK.

I heard the ransom message mentioned dossier and payback.

Ransomware attack across hospitals in the UK. Entire medical systems are shut down now and staff are using old fashioned pen and paper again.

Yeah I had stuff in my feeds from NHS doctors and nurses, the NHS got hit hard. Some hospitals and trusts may have lost all their patient data. Huge deal.

ETA FYI the NHS is the third largest employer in the world. This is probably the biggest data security breach of all time.

Turns out I was talking bollocks
quote:

The National Health Service (NHS) in England is at the centre of a big political row about its reform. It's often said to be the third biggest employer in the world, after the Chinese army and Indian Railways. But is that really true?
It's an incredible claim, given how much smaller the UK is than China or India.
And indeed, it is not true.
Sizing up the world's biggest employers and compiling a list of the top 10, the NHS is revealed to be the fifth largest, with 1.7 million workers across England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
McDonald's makes it into fourth position, with 1.9 million employees. However, 80% of the restaurants are franchises so, strictly speaking, 1.5 million of these people are employed by other companies, although they all wear the uniform.

Well you ain't exactly wrong since the only reason it worked was because NSA kept the zero day quiet that it exploited and then got hacked and unleashed it on the world when they could have done what the law required and let Microsoft know to plug it.
