So it looks like America will be paying for the wall. This should go over well in middle America

quote:

Walmart is warning against President Trump's proposed border adjustment tax, saying it would raise the cost of goods for US shoppers.

"The border tax is a concern," Walmart Chief Financial Officer Brett Biggs said Tuesday on a call with reporters. "Anything that would raise prices for customers in the US is a concern for us."
The company had previously joined a coalition of retailers against the tax, but this is the first time executives have spoken out against it.

Trump proposed the tax, which would impose a 20% levy on Mexican imports, as a way to help pay for a wall along the US-Mexico border. The tax is now part of the US House Republican tax reform proposal.

Biggs said Walmart is generally in favor of tax reform, but not when it involves taxing imports. It's estimated that more than 97% of all clothing and shoes sold in the US are imported.

Illegal immigration costs americans well over 100 billion dollars a year and that number is rising. That's money being stolen from legal americans citizens.

Shut the frick up.

Walmart will buy elsewhere.

But I still love watching the people that want to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour complain about prices going up.

On top of that, they want the American worker to make $15 an hour, unless you're Mexican.

So compassionate.

You know what, Toddy. If having a secure border and actual control over who comes into our country, I'm more than happy if whatever I need from Walmart costs a little bit extra.

Well, let me see.

On the one hand, we can have a President who is committed to creating a level playing field with regards to trade, jobs, and the economy.

On the other hand, we have the opportunity to continue to purchase crappy merchandise at Wal-mart at rock-bottom prices.

I think I'll opt for the former scenario.

Trumpkins love Walmart. They aren't going to be happy when their stuff starts going up because they're having to pay for the wall that Trump insisted Mexico was going to foot the bill.

How is it that you "Progressives" know that tariffs will increase costs on the poor and middle income, but think higher income and corp taxes won't have that same effect?

See, I think it's because you judge policies based on the emotions you feel at the time, not logic and empirical evidence.

He's pretty upfront about it though. Now the swallowing point remains a mystery.

I have no idea what this thread is about. But since it's a toddy thread. I'm going to guess whatever he is advocating...the exact opposite is happening.

So it seems enforcing current laws would be enough to fund itself, instead of burdening us further. Big government gonna big government doh.
