A Message From Doug

Respect for the individual is one of our core beliefs at Walmart. And the role we play in communities around the country to build a more diverse and inclusive society is more critical than ever as the tragic events in Charlottesville over the weekend painfully reminded us. Our prayers are with the victims and their families.

As we watched the events and the response from President Trump over the weekend, we too felt that he missed a critical opportunity to help bring our country together by unequivocally rejecting the appalling actions of white supremacists. His remarks today were a step in the right direction and we need that clarity and consistency in the future.

Our country is facing some very difficult issues that require our elected officials, business leaders and community-based organizations to work together. Representing a company with the largest and one of the most diverse groups of associates in the U.S., and an even more diverse customer base of tens of millions of customers, we believe we should stay engaged to try to influence decisions in a positive way and help bring people together. I will continue to strongly advocate on behalf of our associates and customers, and urge our elected officials to do their part to promote a more just, tolerant and diverse society. Thank you for representing Walmart and our values today -- and every day.

Hey Doug,

How tolerant and respectful are you of associates wanting to unionize?

Love me some completely insincere virtue signaling.

LMAO... The Wal-Mart CEO says a "core belief" of Wal-Mart is "respect for the individual"... That is absolutely hilarious given their treatment of employees...

Why do people still think that the President's statements will bring anyone together? Those who hate him won't suddenly change their mind because he made a nice, scripted statement in response. Those who like him won't be moved to believe differently because of it, either. Obama had 8 years worth of teleprompter speeches that did nothing to bring this country together.

Where was all this criticism of Obama when BLM was looting and burning Ferguson and Baltimore and he didn't unequivocally reject the actions of rioters, but actually encouraged it?

Trump had it right the first time when he called out the bullshite coming from all sides. The Nazi white supremacists are pieces of shite, but so is Antifa with their recent history of causing riots.

I'm sure this same CEO was calling out Obama as he called the Fort Hood shootings workplace violence and Trayvon his son?
We all know how great of a unifier he was!

So keeping their low wage workers in chains and you have the audacity to lecture from your pulpit?

If you aspire to stockboy status as a career, you need better parents.

I am not left and I hate them... Not for their business model, don't really care about that but more for their ability to attract so many idiots to one place at one time...

I like Walmart. Starbucks isn't open till 5:30 am and if I'm running a bit early I can always pop into Walmart at 5:15 and get some dog treats and "reduced for quick sale chicken tenders".

The workers are all happy and joking while restocking and cleaning the floors. There are no customers except me so it's really fast.

And the staff is very diverse. 1/3 white, 1/3 black, 1/3 Mexican. They've also got some Vietnamese sprinkled in.

Walmart falls all over themselves to be PC, like any other big company, maybe moreso.

They put a lot of $$ into the local gay pride celebration every year, for example.
