US News & World Report "Poll: Arabs see U.S. as a Threat"

Arabs frown on U.S. foreign policy, but are no fans of the Islamic State group, either.
About 82 percent of survey participants in 12 Arab countries said they believed the U.S. poses a threat to stability in the region, according to a poll unveiled in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday.
The 2016 Arab Opinion Index, conducted by the Arab Center for Research and Policy Studies in Doha, Qatar, found that among foreign powers, only Israel was perceived to be a bigger threat. About 90 percent of survey respondents reported that Israel is a threat to the region's stability.
34 percent considered a government built on Sharia law to be the most appropriate.
The index surveyed people in Algeria, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Mauritania, Morocco, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Sudan and Tunisia.
This study is for you Goldenugget!

And they are probably right.

a threat to STABILITY in the region?
There's stability in the region to threaten?
There's stability in the region to threaten?

Good. Don't come over and kill our people

That isn't a knock to GN's position. It actually affirms it.
Our intervention is a threat to ME stability.

Not if my uncle Samuel has anything to say about it.

Be higher if they'd poll Muslims.

Anybody with a hair more empathy than a sociopath probably won't be all that outraged by this. Hell most of you at least pretend to see our government as a threat.

That's actually a pretty legit point

A lot of other interesting stuff was in the underlying poll: LINK.
(These polls were taken in 2016, by the way, so this has very little to do with Trump, for what it's worth.)
Section 7 on opinions of the 2011 Arab Spring on pp. 12-13 is of note.
Positive vs. negative opinion by year
2012-13, 61% vs. 22%
2014, 45% vs. 42%
2015, 34% vs. 59%
2016, 41% vs. 50%
If you look at the breakdown of the 12 Arab countries on their 2016 opinions, you'll see that the most negative were Jordan & Lebanon, which were dealing with the awful spillover effects of sheltering refugee populations.
For the other 10 countries, all were more positive than negative. (EDIT: Sorry. It's 9/10, as I missed Algeria. I blame the French influence and the stirring poetry of Dominique de Villepin.)
(2ND EDIT: That 78% positive to 19% negative rating for Egypt is especially interesting.)
Also interesting were the polls on pg. 10, including the 53% of respondents who agreed with the statement, "It would be better for my home country if religion were separated from politics."
