The EPA just upped it's mandate use of ethanol made from cellulosic sources.
This is incredibly stupid.
First they diverted 40% of our corn crop to ethanol production now they want to divert forest land that would be used to build our homes into fuel. LINK
When you read what the owners of the cellulosic ethanol facility in Mississippi say you will note they talk of "urban wood waste" and "straw" and "forest residual" and other non food sources. Almost as an after thought they say "pre-commercial thinnings" (PCT).
The truth of the matter is that PCT is their primary source of cellulose and what you ask is PCT?? ---It is pine trees too small to use for paper or timber. It is the wood we would be using 20 years from now.
