AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — University of Texas President Greg Fenves ordered the immediate removal of statues of Robert E. Lee and other prominent Confederate figures from a main area of campus, saying such monuments have become “symbols of modern white supremacy and neo-Nazism.”
Fenves announced the move late Sunday night as crews were in place to begin taking the statues down. The school also blocked off the area during the process, and the statues are expected to be gone by mid-morning Monday, a spokesman said.
The university moved a statue of former Confederate President Jefferson Davis from its perch near the campus clock tower to a history museum in 2015. Fenves said statues of Lee, Confederate Gen. Albert Sidney Johnston and Confederate Postmaster General John H. Reagan, which were in the same area as Davis, also will be moved to the Brisco Center for American History on campus.
Crews early Monday first removed a statue of former Texas Gov. James Stephen Hogg, which was commissioned at the same time as the others, a spokesman said. Hogg will get another place on campus.

It's weird how magic works. Magically in the past 2 weeks these statues that hundreds of thousands of people have walked by for decades are now magically symbols of Nazis.
I have never understood magic.
Wait, magic isn't real? It's just all an illusion that these statues are suddenly Nazi symbols? We'll what do you know.
I love this. It's going to bite them right in the arse. They can't even see it.

They still don't have a f*cking clue as to why they've lost the House, the Senate, and, most importantly, the Presidency. Add in that the Republicans control 35 Governorships and state houses and it's just going to keep getting better (for Conservatives, that is) -- once we get rid of the CUCKS/eRINOs in Congress.

I don't care about Texas U and their statues but I would make a suggestion to anyone taking down statues.
1) Hold at least a fake public forum about it.
2) Pretend you looked at the issues from all sides.
3) Let the people know that you pretended.
It will make them look less opportunistic and reactionary.

Only because idiots like Fenves interpolate them as such.

If like 10k people can change the meaning of something on behalf of 150 million, I think the 150 million are the problem.

Let's be adamantly clear here.
The University of Texas at Travis County is a refuge of the weak and feeble minded, who couldnt find meaningful employment elsewhere.
It is a University for Illegals, SJW's, rich Foreign Nationals, and Northeastern Metro Sexuals who were to dumb to get in an IVY.
What happens at the University of Texas at Travis County is in no way indicative to the thoughts of 75% of Texas residents.

Be careful, the SJW's may want Sully's statue at A&M removed next.

Yellerhammer--- your being to critical. Give the guy a brake.

It's sad that it has gotten to a point where universities are having to discuss these statue issues as if removal is now just a forgone conclusion. Hold out and they risk having all of this buffoonery come to their campus to set up shop. It's all so absurd.
