He is the best chance the Democrats have had in state since Dandy Don Siegleman.

Battle vs Maddox would be an interesting race.

I'll be pissed if Battle isn't the Republican candidate.

I thought Battle was already running for governor on the Republican ticket?

If Maddox gets past Doug Jones in the primaries, I think he will be the next Governor.

Best chance. But he's still getting his arse handed to him. He made a deal with the AEA years ago to only ever run as a Democrat. It's fricking him now.

And that is why he won't win. Even if the Republican candidate is a total idiot, I'd still give him the better odds over any democrat in today's political environment within this state. And if someone as competent as Battle gets the republicans nomination, then I don't see and democrat having a snowball's chance.

He hasn't actually announced that he will run yet, he has just set up an exploratory committee.

Jones is running for the Senate seat, not governor.

Bama isn't electing a democrat right now. It's that simple.

Probably not, but if any Dem could it would be Maddox. He's very popular in Tuscaloosa, even among my very conservative friends. Several have told me they would vote for him if he ran for governor. Whether that can translate to the entire state is a long, tough road though.

He probably won't win, but I am a conservative and I would vote for him in a heartbeat. He is a good dude, and has done a lot for the city of Tuscaloosa.

It really is that simple. It's the only way you can explain the clownshow in Montgomery.

The clown show in Birmingham is probably worse than the one in Montgomery (if that's even possible), and I can't remember the last time they ever had a Republican mayor (if they have even ever had one).

Definitely not one beholden to the AEA. We have seen where that road leads.
