Trump is pretty awesome. Love this guy.

And I think he is slow rolling all of this and when the truth comes out we will all be shocked. He is ever the showman.

No.

I mean how a man so successful can be so insecure.

I'll never understand that.

He is as textbook narcissistic personality disorder or as they come. Deep insecurities are at the root.
quote:

if you have narcissistic personality disorder, you may come across as conceited, boastful or pretentious. You often monopolize conversations. You may belittle or look down on people you perceive as inferior. You may feel a sense of entitlement — and when you don't receive special treatment, you may become impatient or angry. You may insist on having "the best" of everything — for instance, the best car, athletic club or medical care.

At the same time, you have trouble handling anything that may be perceived as criticism. You may have secret feelings of insecurity, shame, vulnerability and humiliation. To feel better, you may react with rage or contempt and try to belittle the other person to make yourself appear superior. Or you may feel depressed and moody because you fall short of perfection.

Having an exaggerated sense of self-importance
Expecting to be recognized as superior even without achievements that warrant it
Exaggerating your achievements and talents
Being preoccupied with fantasies about success, power, brilliance, beauty or the perfect mate
Believing that you are superior and can only be understood by or associate with equally special people
Requiring constant admiration
Having a sense of entitlement
Expecting special favors and unquestioning compliance with your expectations
Taking advantage of others to get what you want
Having an inability or unwillingness to recognize the needs and feelings of others
Being envious of others and believing others envy you
Behaving in an arrogant or haughty manner

Of course he's a narcissist, most politicians are. He's following in the footsteps of one of the biggest ever. BHO.

I was just reading the interview and about to make a thread. There is so much gold in the interview.

quote:

I’m a very instinctual person, but my instinct turns out to be right.

quote:

They get it. But you take a look and guess what, I won, and I won easily. I predicted Brexit. Remember they said there was no way to get to 270? Well I ended up at 306. I had election night, 306.

Less than 100K votes is winning easily. Also, he seems really really proud of his Brexit prediction. He mentions it many many times. Kinda weird.

quote:

House intelligence chairman Devin Nunes told reporters, wow. Nunes said, so that means I’m right, Nunes said the surveillance appears to have been ... incidental collection, that does not appear to have been related to concerns over Russia.

People on his campaign and transition team were caught up in incidental collection that was being done as part of surveillance of Russian bad guys but it "does not appear to have been related to concerns over Russia". uh huh.

quote:

But you don’t see any problems caused by these kinds of controversies. Does this, when we are talking in the press about whether the president was wiretapped or not, is this good for you or bad for you?

Probably neither. Probably neither. What I said, look I said, Donna Brazile had information, and she had information on Hillary’s debate questions. I said why didn’t Hillary apologize. Donna Brazile just admitted that that was right. I said the election was rigged against Bernie, a lot of people agree with that one, a lot of people hated the statement when I made it.

Trump would fit in so well around here. Every time it looks bad you can just say "But Obama" "But Hillary".

quote:

But I grant you some of those. But you would agree also that some of the things you have said haven’t been true. You say that Ted Cruz’s father was with Lee Harvey Oswald.

Well that was in a newspaper. No, no, I like Ted Cruz, he’s a friend of mine. But that was in the newspaper. I wasn’t, I didn’t say that. I was referring to a newspaper. A Ted Cruz article referred to a newspaper story with, had a picture of Ted Cruz, his father, and Lee Harvey Oswald, having breakfast.

Sad.

quote:

But traditionally people in your position in the Oval Office have not said things unless they can verify they are true.

Well, I’m not, well, I think, I’m not saying, I’m quoting, Michael, I’m quoting highly respected people and sources from major television networks.

Maybe, just maybe, that's a really bad idea when you are the freaking President.

quote:

And then TIME magazine, which treats me horribly, but obviously I sell, I assume this is going to be a cover too, have I set the record? I guess, right? Covers, nobody’s had more covers.

I think Richard Nixon still has you beat. But he was in office for longer, so give yourself time.

Ok good. I’m sure I’ll win.

This guy...

quote:

I inherited a mess with jobs, despite the statistics, you know, my statistics are even better, but they are not the real statistics because you have millions of people that can’t get a job, ok.

quote:

Hey look, in the mean time, I guess, I can’t be doing so badly, because I’m president, and you’re not. You know. Say hello to everybody OK?

Dude, what psychology courses did you take? Every 'successful' person is very insecure. Its what basically drives them.

Can I be better than my friends
Can I shake off my nerdy past
Can I outdo my parents
Can I be the first at something

Look no further than Bruce Jenner, Olympic champion. Battling demons from Day 1. Obama and abandonment by father and mother (she died). Bush living up to his father. Clinton wanting to be first female. Mariah Carey, John Belushi. Theres just not enough space

In Trumps case, he has moved outside his comfort zone, and is now having to prove himself, to himself, and his doubters

Not really. The View tried to pin Dr. Phil down on this and he shut them down pretty quick... If you go off those guidelines the vast majority of people are would be considered narcissistic and every politician in DC would fall into that bucket too

Seems to me that he's very secure in his position, and flaunting it in the face of the press.

Well it would be unethical to make a diagnostic judgement anyways, whether Trump is or isn't.

Given his questionable ethics in the past, I hope this is evidence that Dr. Phil is finally adhering to standard ethics.

the vast majority of people are would be considered narcissistic
Well narcissistic behaviors are probably displayed by everyone from time to time; that is different than a disorder.
quote:

the vast majority of people are would be considered narcissistic and every politician in DC would fall into that bucket too
I think politics self-selects for those tendencies, probably far more than any other job.

Insecure? Based on what? Your vaunted opinion!!! He is so insecure he ran for POTUS. Give it up...please, as the embarrassment is getting to be a bit too much to digest.
