He could have had someone leak they were going to go after Clinton and the Clinton Foundation with all resources. Obama would have had no choice but to go ahead and pardon Clinton.

Trump could have said something vague about needing to change the culture in DC and they had no choice but to not pursue it. He gets out of it and scores points without backtracking.

I wish they would have handled this better. They could have.

Obama wouldn't pardon her because then he would have to admit he thought she was guilty of something. Obama isn't going to tie himself to that sinking ship no matter what at this point.

He is not even yet the president, and is already moving away from his promises.

She lost, what purpose would it serve to go after her?

Let the DOJ and the lawsuits do the work.

No way to try to unite the country by smoking their Queen.

Let it play out.

I agree. I don't think he should prosecute her. But I also didn't vote for him (or her for that matter).

Or say you aren't going to pursue charges and there is no need to pardon her. The ball is in O's & Hilldogs court now.

If he pardons her now this is just free ammo. If he doesn't

He intimated "he" would not.

He is not the DOJ or FBI.

That said, even if this is accurate, I suspect the state, met is in exchange for not contesting the election results and staying quiet while he's in office.

It will be up to Sessions to appoint a special prosecutor (Rudy) leaving Donald's hands clean.

Dude really is a better Politician than everyone gave him credit for... Same ole political crap, nothing really changes, but there was more of a chance for change with Trump, but I really doubt he keeps all his promises...Washington is a game, and you realize when you get in office you are limited in scope , and that's the way the system was designed, unless you go completely lawless with Executive orders, like we have recently seen...

He can let the investigations and lawsuits play out and pull the trigger whenever he wants, no need to blather on about it right now.

He should be trying to unite a fractured country, going after Hillionaire won't get it done.

Great move by trump. She's done and he has more important stuff to do.

As long as he fills Scalias seat with a conservative, and keeps the court right of center for the future, I'm not worried about his election rhetoric. Obama kept almost none of his promises, no one freaked out. Gitmo is still open. We still have troops in iraq. I didn't get to keep my health insurance.

Since when has he done anything the way the media expected him to?
Why play your cards before you take the oath?
The people who voted for Trump will hold his feet to the fire.
Once the right people are in the DOJ, who knows what may happen?

Agree with this. But why in the frick would he even comment on it?? Just stay quiet and let the media, Clinton, and Obama sit there in the dark wondering. I really see no upside at all with showing your cards now.

This was badly played and not thought out.

Not a troll at all. He clearly, repeatedly said he'd appoint a special prosecutor and then backed off those statements today. You tell me how what he said today squares with the special prosecutor talk.
