I can't stand the liberal Leaning universities. However I'm having trouble blaming Berkeley for this. They let the campus republicans have the event. They provided location and protection. Wasn't it a bunch of outsiders that rushed in with violence? Give me reasons to be pissed at Berkeley and I promise I'll fall in lock step.

Berkeley is accepting that type of money from the federal government and can't properly secure the campus when they knew ahead of time that there would be a protest? They have to know how these protests end up by now, they turn into riots. They could have been prepared, they chose not to because they encourage this animalistic behavior

You're wrong. Last night is all on the Berkeley leadership.
Students received a letter from the university in the days leading up to the appearance that basically said their hands were tied and they had to let Milo speak because the campus Republicans followed proper procedure and they couldn't prevent him from speaking even though they found him "abhorrent."
The letter then went in to essentially say they had added additional security and if protests got out of hand, they'd shut it down.
So basically, the UC leadership begged their students to riot so they could pull the plug on a guy they didn't agree with.
frick them all. I hope their houses burned to the ground.

All of this. I would also like to add.... they made the college republicans pay for its own security, which they don't do for left leaning speakers. They popped this payment on them a few days before the event. An unnamed donor paid the additional cost so the speech could take place.
