With regards to dues payments, I would like to see Trump tell the other members that America will start paying the average percentage that the other member countries are currently contributing.
If that doesn't motivate them to pay their fair share, screw it.

I suppose it makes no difference to anyone that the GDP issue was discussed at the Wales Summit in 2014, where countries were given ten years to get their spending in line with the 2% amount.

This is a great point that is always overlooked. People don't realize that these great social experiments, which include single payer healthcare, are the result of these countries not having to provide for their own defense. We provide it for them.
Furthermore, it is why a single payer system simply will not work here. We have obligations to defend ourselves with no one out there to do it for us.
The bottom line is this: only in a world guided by conservative principals is liberalism able to exist. It is the great irony of our time.

It's also the way international politics works. It is in the interest of these countries to increase their payments if they continue to push eastward and invite Russian antagonism.
The only decent part of Trump's approach to FP is that he is results-oriented, but long term the geopolitics will drive what countries will do, not what Trump or any US president will say or do.

I liked the speech, but he should have said he would push for the US to withhold ALL MONIES until the other nations paid their agreed upon amounts.
