Trump: Charter Will Invest $25B in U.S., Hire 20K Workers

In a meeting with Gov. Greg Abbott (R-Texas) and Charter Communications CEO Thomas Rutledge on Friday, President Trump revealed a major commitment by the telecommunications company to invest in America saying, “Today I am thrilled to announce that Charter Communications has just committed to investing $25 billion, with a B, $25 billion.”

Along with the multi-billion dollar investment, Trump declared the company is also planning an extensive hiring push in the U.S.

Not huge, but a nice little bit of positive economic news.

Nice, but they better get tax reform and infrastructure moving, because it is in anticipation of that you are seeing a lot of this sort of thing.

I always found it strange on assignments in African nations how much time their presidents spent taking credit for business developments in the countries. It was typified by the fact that they typically cut the ribbons at a new hotel or major residential or commercial development, and their pictures were on the walls in those businesses as well as at Airports and such. And that's in spite of our knowledge that, in Africa, presidents have a much more direct hand in those negotiations--so they and their friends can get their piece of the pie.

But I'm all about the jobs. I mean reason tells me these developments weren't conceived in the last three months, but in the context of a healthier economy I guess I can take the fake credit-sharing.

Not that the masses will care, especially since Trump "announced" it at the White House, but this was announced as part of the deal when AT&T bought Charter in 2014.

It is good news. It's also German as it was announced 18 months ago.
