Do you live here? If you did you would know the answer.

Hi Everyone! Senator Bill Cassidy is having a town hall in Metairie, Wednesday, February 22nd from 3:30-4:30pm. Thousands have reached out to him expressing their opposition to the the confirmation of Betsy Devos. Thus far all of our calls, emails, letters, and even protests outside his offices have fallen on deaf ears as he voted to advance her confirmation out of committee and indicated his intention to support her in the floor vote. This is our chance to directly advocate and hold Senator Cassidy accountable. We need to make it clear that we will do everything we can to unseat him if he doesn't start representing the needs and concerns of his constituency. I for one want him to answer for his vote for Betsy Devos and the $70,200 she donated to his campaign. Let's be clear eyed about something: He's holding this town hall right at the beginning of the major parades of Mardi Gras because he's counting on people caring more about the parades or worried about the traffic than holding him accountable. Let's prove him wrong. Use this page to organize rides and any other efforts to get people to the town hall. TEACHERS: Talk to your administrations about busing kids and parents to the meeting! Or solicit your colleagues to organize rides for them, we know that transportation will be a major barrior for many of the families we serve! Please share and invite all fellow concerned citizens!

Busy working. Unlike these shitstains. Of course, a lot of them probably were working.

Prove that these protesters are paid or STFU.
How about you GFY and STFU.

Many who are not paid, are volunteers whose goal is to misrepresent level of support or level of opposition. When there are offers to bus people in, it should give some level of indication as to "grassroots" legitimacy.
Prove that these protesters are paid or STFU.

Did you see offers to bus people from out of state to the Cassidy town hall?

I have a job and was off for the town hall. Also if working is such a valid excuse to miss the meeting, don't you find fault with Cassidy for scheduling it during normal business hours?

All of these discussions about the town hall disruptions miss the point. The bottom line is this. At any town hall meeting the attendees fall into three General categories. Those happy with the representative those unhappy with him and some people who want to hear the discussion. That last group arrives and sees one of the groups yelling and preventing any discussion. I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out what that last groups reaction will be. So I say keep it up. The Screamers aren't going to flip supporters and are just going to piss off the people who actually wanted to hear ideas

Cassidy is keenly aware of the multiple aspects of our medical payor problems. He is aware of their ramifications. He's lived it
He was a doctor. Does that mean he's had to deal with not being able to afford Healthcare or insurance?
If being a doctor makes him an insurance expert, I assume you find fault with our new sec of education having no real education experience yet being considered an expert.

The only fault I find is that the position exists.

Exactly as a teacher has had to deal with kids not being able to afford necessities or suffering through a horrible home and/or social environment.

Being acquainted with people who can't afford Healthcare is not the same as not being able to afford Healthcare.

But I have bigger problems with any "education expert" selectively depriving poor and working class kids the choice of educational opportunities my kids enjoyed.
That is grotesque!

Being acquainted with people
I assumed you would at least understand student-teacher relationships though. You'd refer those as "acquaintances"?

i get into this argument with my mom all the time
i'm more capable of running a school board than most teachers who have lots of classroom time. it's an administrative position that is only marginally tied to actual teaching. hell, if i got to run one i'd be similar to Devos in theory by giving teachers more freedom to teach

Can you expound on this a bit? For disclosure my wife is a teacher at a school in New Orleans with 100% low or no income families.
