The current mayor of Huntsville has fired his opening salvo at established Montgomery elites and the current poster boy for corruption de jure in former governor Bentley.

Battle's First Campaign Ad.

Great ad.

I agree with him. It's time to elect someone not affiliated with state government.

Bentley wasn't really "establishment."

I agree that we need to go a different route though.

The problem in Alabama is the absolute shite show we have as a state legislature. We literally have a chamber FULL of Paul Ryans and Maxine Waters.

As I get more info, I'll post it up.

I see similarities here in Sportsman's Paradise.

Yes and no. He was a state rep for several years, but he wasn't part of the inner circle of BCA/Bob Riley alliance. Bradley Byrne was their man. But he was still somewhat connected in Montgomery.

What is Battle's party affiliation? I know Tuscaloosa mayor Walt Maddox is considering a run as a Dem. Doubt he would run against Battle in a primary. They seem to have a good relationship.

I couldn't tell you his resumé, but I know he's done good things in Huntsville. He also seems like a guy who could handle the job and represent the state. I'm going to do some research.

I'll say this, a few years ago I was looking into opening a small business in Huntsville. Out of nowhere Battle called me and told me to let him know whatever he could do to make the job easier for me. He even offered to drive me around Huntsville to give me a better idea of how things work. I thought that was really cool.

He has been killing it on the jobs front in that area of the state. I've heard rumors of some more big announcements coming as well.

so you have personal experience and a testimony that he not only recruits business, but cares about it & is serious

that's enough for me to say he's worth a look, at least at 1st glance & knowing nothing else...

What a fricking hack.

What he should have said is Im the supreme leader of athens alabama and Im coming down to Montgomery, riding on my granddaddys horse, this friday night. If there's anyone that thinks their the man enough to go toe to toe, then Ill be waiting for your arse at sonic tonight right there.

I think name recognition is his biggest issue right now. While must of the state politicians have been a shitshow, he has quietly been aiding the development of the tech region of Alabama with both white and BLUE collar manufacturing jobs.

As far as the house and Senate of AL, members from the north end if the state have impressed me the most. I say this as a resident of the Birmingham metro area.

creating jobs & can claim "outsider" label

sounds like he will be hard to beat

Casey Middlebrooks has created a facebook page, "Alabama Vote" (just noticed I was added a minute ago as I was checking for birthdays)

Looks like a few people are talking about Battle already, grew up in Hoover

The cool thing is I was looking to open up a small franchise, not some big aerospace company or anything. With all of the industry in Huntsville, he still reached out to a small business owner even though he didn't know a thing about me.

Assuming Battle is everything people say he is, I don't know if this state could handle a Battle-Maddox campaign. It'd be too good to be true.
