We're not paying for a wall. Maybe one to separate us from Louisiana.

So the Alamo wasn't a loss. It led to the end if the war.

Andrew Jackson led the forces that solidified the American victory in the war of 1812. Is the Alamo some how more significant to American history than a monument to Andrew Jackson?

The Alamo had significance before the battle. That's why there was a battle.

I'm OK with no Mexican wall if they are given back Texas. Deal?

Yes. Because that monument was built by the Cult of the Lost Confederacy.

So you're honoring it as a mission??

I smell a double standard here.

"We don't honor losers!" Sure you do...

I guess you missed my earlier point the Jackson had nothing to with the Confederacy. But hey, make unsupported arguments that ignore history. This is the internet after all.

They lost a battle, but still won the war. The confederates lost the war. See the difference? One had heroes. One had rebels.

Wait, the outsiders who came to fight weren't rebelling against the central govt of Mexico?

Are you sure they teach history in Texas?

Rebels, losers.

When you lose the war, it's a rebellion. When you win it, it's a revolution. Obvious history is told by the victors is obvious.

promoting a sanitized version of Confederacy--that was revisionist history.

The revisionist history is saying that murder, rape, & torture of slaves was widespread in order to demonize the South. Sure it happened in small numbers, but to say it was the norm is an outright lie.

The majority of slave owners only owned 1 or 2 slaves and worked in the fields next to them. Why would a someone intentionally harm a person responsible for up to 50% of their income? The majority of slaves were well treated. If you don't believe me, then read the actual words of these slaves after the war. Do your own research instead of buying into the bullshite they feed you in school or from a pandering politician.

Because they didn't view them as people. Duh. They were property.

The Alamo fighters won nothing. They were rebels who fought government forces and lost
