My son was in an auto accident last night with a car that contained three... non-Americans. Fortunately my son was OK but shook up a bit.
Out of the other car, one guy was hurt with head injuries; I'm pretty sure he wasn't driving. But of the other two guys, neither would admit to which one was driving, neither had licenses, neither could provide insurance, neither could speak or read English (the cops had to get an interpreter).
Looks like I am going to be out of pocket about nine grand. You're dadgum right my elected officials are going to emphatically know my point.
Our nation was FOUNDED as a nation of immigrants. I welcome people who come here in search of a better life who want to become Americans. I DO NOT welcome people who come here as foreign nationals who repatriate all their pay back to their home, who fail to follow our laws, speak our language, and have no desire to actually BECOME AMERICANS. IT has nothing to do with race or creed. Do it the right way.

Don't feel sorry one bit... That's why you always get Uninsured Motorist coverage... (UMPD) for you morons who can't follow

This is why uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage is a must. That being said, frick all those illegals, right in the pussy. Obama's amnesty announcement...I've never been so furious at a president in my life.

Thanks for being so understanding and caring.
And it's not just uninsured motorists but collision. It's a bit pricey for 16 yr old male primary drivers. This was a several hundred dollar decision, not trivial at all.

Same thing happened to me. Cops didn't do anything . I deal with our new undocumented ones daily in our hospitals . It's the new norm . GodBless our POTUS.

But really, what would have been different about this situation if the drivers had been uninsured citizens? The only difference is you wouldn't have a convenient scapegoat to make some shitty political point to try to distract yourself from your own poor financial and insurance coverage decisions.

First, glad your kid is OK. Cars can be replaced and compared to the life and health of your kid, money is nothing.
Second, You're right about illegals being a serious issue both on the roads and in the broader spectrum of things like crime, education, poverty levels, etc.
Third, let this be a lesson and go get uninsured driver coverage added to your insurance.

UMBI and UMPD are separate coverages. Generally people refer to UMBI when they say UM.
Collision coverage or UMPD is what he would've needed to not be out $9,000.

I think another point that he made that you failed to see was that these people did not have a driver's license and could not read or speak a bit of English. So they didn't just not have insurance, they were breaking multiple laws.
I do agree that the OP should have elected to have collision insurance. It's more expensive at 16yo, but a 16yo is a terrible driver.
