This. You look like an idiot when you call it that considering the travel ban had to be rewritten just because of it.

Are you insinuating that they weren't working on the logistics behind it since the rogue court tried to block it?

Actually, the original travel ban wasn't even a muslim ban though.

It had to be rewritten to take out an exception for christians coming from those countries among other things. Considering there's pretty much Muslims and Christians there, it was essentially a Muslim ban. Why I thought the first ban actually was unconstitutional and why I think the second one was fine.

You are aware that the judge in Hawaii not only blocked the travel ban but also halted the review process correct?

Christians are in the minority in those countries though and would apply for asylum based on religious persecution.

And the Trump administration just went through some bad press for deporting christians back to their home countries so there's that.

Still not a muslim ban.

I agree that it is not in it's current form because there is no "minority preference" (aka Christian preference). If you want to deny that that clause's purpose was to give christians a way around the EO, then carry on, but when you have country (or 7 in this case) that are essentially made up of Muslims and Christians with Muslims being the majority, and you give a preference to minority religions, that is banning Muslims and giving preference to Christians.

IMO, yes the first one was a Muslim ban. That's the whole reason that it had to be rewritten. Even if we're not only talking about Christians, when you only ban the majority religion of those countries your essentially banning only Muslims.

They should have done what they eventually did do and just ban all travel from those counties regardless of religion.

At least you are finally admitting its a ban against a religion.

It is a ban against a threat to our nation. Anything else is irrelevant.
