The Trump administration has decided not to torpedo the historic nuclear deal with Iran and is renewing key waivers that allow foreign companies to do business with the Islamic Republic, two administration officials tell BuzzFeed News. At the same time, the Treasury Department is set to sanction two Iranian defense officials and one Iranian entity for activities related to missile development, the officials said.
...
US allies, including Germany, France and Britain, have urged the Trump administration against walking away from the deal, which lifted a raft of economic sanctions against Tehran in exchange for strict curbs on its nuclear program.

The Trump administration’s decision comes at crucial moment for US-Iranian relations. The waivers, which exempt foreign companies that do business with Iran from US sanctions still on the books, will expire before Iranian’s go to the polls to elect their next president on Friday.

so do you think it's incorrect?

do you think he's going to kill the deal, or, as buzzfeed reported, sign off on the waivers?

My bad, I forgot that Buzzfeed is the bastion of journalistic integrity. It's not like almost every story they have posted lately has been proven false. within a week. Seriously, Buzzfeed is quite possibly the worst rag out there. It's below WAPO and HUFFPO on the BS spectrum.

Trump dossier

the existence of a trump dossier was in fact correct. buzzfeed published the dossier to prove it existed, not to claim everything within the dossier was correct. the existence of it was still newsworthy.

guess we'll see in a few days if trump renews the waivers or if he kills - what did he call it - "the worst deal ever"?

Everyone's already said that you can't terminate the deal because we've already given them everything, only part of deal left is basically them staying in compliance.

Wow, That's some mental gymnastics right there. So what you are saying is that anyone could create a dossier claiming anything about a politician, and Buzzfeed or any news outlet should report on it before verifying the contents of the dossier?

not at all what i said.

but when it's an MI6 agent who has done work with american agencies, and american intelligence agencies think the dossier is credible enough to warn the sitting president and the new president of its existence, then its existence is newsworthy.

btw, i don't think they should have published the whole thing, they should've just said it exists and go through what is known and how it was being handled. but publishing it doesn't make it 'fake news'

I mean if that dossier had made it's way into the hands of the leaders of the intelligence communities, then yea, they absolutely should report it.

Ideally that reporting would include details about how dirt invented by Joe Schmo from the street ended up being weaponized by leaders in our government, but yea, that still seems like something that the American people need to know
