DC banned guns a long time ago. It was finally challenged and it went all the way to the SC.

In 2008, U.S. Supreme Court ruled in the case of District of Columbia v. Heller. It was 5-4. Had that been after Scalia died, it would have been 4-4. Upheld.

Had Hillary won.... you would have gun control RIGHT NOW!. Cities would be passing total gun control. Here is the descent:

“a strained and unpersuasive reading” that “bestowed a dramatic upheaval of the law.” “The Court would have us believe that over 200 years ago, the Framers made a choice to limit the tools available to elected officials wishing to regulate civilian uses of weapons … I could not possibly conclude that the Framers made such a choice.

1 vote away from a nation without the 2nd. That's how close you came.

People still don’t seem to realize the catastrophe we avoided back in November.

Just goes to show the ineptness of the Democratic Party. This election was their best chance to enact several big ticket items on their agenda and the best they could put out there was Hillary.

Cities in the South never would have done so and no Federal law will ever be passed. Plus there is no realistic way to confiscate the 300+ million legal guns that the general public now owns.

Dems have been great for gun sales, though.

That's not true at all. Better look at what major cities are actually controlled by dems.

Really? So if the dems have the weight of the SC behind them, and the majority in the house and senate and WH they would not do that?

Oh, but there is. It's been proven all across the world. At first, we will give cash for clunkers. You would have a lot of people give up their excess guns, and a lot would just need the money and give them up.

From there, you move into a grab.

And now if RBG would just retire. Or someone would discover that she is already dead, and being propped up like on "Weekend at Bernies"...

Hillary owned the Dem party. The ineptness was her own doing assisted by all of her Dem minions. That is why they are such a mess now. Minions need a leader and they don't have one now that Hillary has been struck down.

Must be hard to live with all this paranoia. Hillary's election doesn't do any of the things you say except put a D in the White House.

This is true. And its the same reason the "Chicago has the toughest gun laws" argument is total garbage, it simply isn't true. That SC decision was the tipping point.

That said, it WAS true in 2007 but every meaningful rule put in place has been peeled back minus a couple minor rules about where you can put retailers.

Never say "never" when it comes to politics or law. People thought "never" about Kelo until the decision came out. Same for the aspect of the ACA that forced people to purchase health insurance or be fined.

I imagine it would have been akin to England in that you have people in the more rural areas that keep theirs, but in the urban areas many were voluntarily given up (especially if the guh-mint starts paying cash rewards for them).

Is this what Colbert told you was to be your expected response? Or maybe Kimmel? The Gorsuch nomination alone qualifies the trump presidency as a success.

You missed the point that if Hillary had won, the Supreme Court would have made de facto gun control laws.
