The biggest issue that my leftist friends now realize they ignored

I don't normally talk about politics except on this board, but in election years I get into it a little more because it's the religion of most of my friends, and they haven't let up on the idea that racism/sexism/thisism/thatism/ismismism is what got Trump elected. There's one factor I bring up to them that makes them stop and say "Oh. Well yeah, that makes sense."
I tell them something like: "Like it or not, the majority of voters in this country didn't want Obamacare to begin with, and most of those people really didn't want tax money to pay for abortions, and none of them enjoyed their premiums increasing this year, and a lot of them actually can't afford those increases. If you can't empathize with that, nobody has a reason to empathize with anything you're saying."
In case anybody wondered what gets talked about during happy hour in America's biggest city and biggest Democrat hub. This is the one issue I've found that gets the "Oh, I never really thought about that" look.

Most of my leftist friends are just informed enough to share an "Occupy Democrats" or "The other 98%" meme on facebook. Talking to them about actually relevant issues is like trying to explain Fig Newtons to Louis C.K.'s kid.

I bring up points along these lines a lot as well and typically get the same responses.
I am pro-choice. However, I understand and respect those who are pro-life for whatever reason you may have. And completely agree that $0 tax dollars should be allowed to go towards abortions.

I find it nearly impossible to have an intelligent discussion with a liberal. They are ignorant on issues and resort to name calling when they lose a discussion.

When you get down to it people vote with their wallets.

This is true. However, I'd say as a counterbalance to this, quite a few people probably like Obamacare because the rate hikes do not affect them much given the percentage cap and subsidy. Quite a few people around the poverty line will likely be worried about what will happen to their premiums when the subsidies are gone.

Newsflash: The BIGGEST reason that Trump won was because Clinton is one unlikable bitch.
Think about it....women voted for a "pussy grabber" over that bitch.
Game over.

It's easier to say," I survived 8 years of Obama, and you will also survive Trump."

There are many others but that is a start. Bottom line, Progressives are totalitarian fascists. Statists. Everything requires a centralized solution. And they never consider the implication of their centralized decision making. It wasn't because they made a bad decision, it was because (fill in the blank - Republican resistance, not enough money, etc).

Let's give credit to where credit is due - females. You and I are included in the people category. Pretty hard for you and I to have an abortion.
