Students disgruntled with their school lunch options have taken to social media to tweet pictures of their unappetizing-looking food under the hashtag #ThanksMichelleObama

That fat cow has a lot of room to talk... Do as she says, not as she does

Why is a school responsible for feeding children? What happened to the days when kids would go back home during lunch time and come back afterwards?

The money spent on cafeterias should be spent, you know, on EDUCATION.

There was a parent in the comments who said if they send bag lunches with their kids to school the lunch is inspected and deemed not good the lunch is taken from the child... WTF....

Well some schools are even preventing kids from bringing sack lunches.

My kids go to public school. It would be pretty hard to get a lunch taken away.

As to the OP, obviously some schools suck at making lunches. I am sure a lot do a good job.

I'd quickly become the parent that they hate if they pulled that shite.

Well, I'll say that school food failed to resemble anything a reasonable person would label as food long before Michelle Obama came around.

Very true.

I can still remember how those burgers tasted. I have since never tasted any thing like it.

The sad thing is that this stuff is severely impacting low income schools. Go to any wealthy public school, and the cafeterias have great variety and a bunch of sides.

Go to a Jackson or Detroit public school and you get one choice and maybe one tiny side.

I laugh at ANYONE who calls public education "the great equalizer".

I wonder if Michelle has the guts to try this for food stamp recipients.

That's actually a really great argument for restricting food stamp options. Why does the gov't regulate public school food, but not public assistance food? Pretty hypocritical if you ask me.

Do you think that it might be that the students at the school with the great variety are paying for their lunches and the students in Jackson/Detroit are getting the free federal government lunch?
