notice the slant in this sentence? yeah, the reporter can't help himself.

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott criticized the NFL for suggesting last week that the state could miss out on hosting another Super Bowl if a bathroom bill targeting transgender people is passed.
notice the slant in this sentence? yeah, the reporter can't help himself.
quote:
After criticizing the NFL for allowing players to kneel during the national anthem, Abbott said: "The NFL needs to concentrate on playing football and get the heck out of politics."
On Friday, in response to an email question about the Texas bill, which was filed last month, league spokesman?Brian McCarthy said: "If a proposal that is discriminatory or inconsistent with our values were to become law there, that would certainly be a factor considered when thinking about awarding future events."
Said Abbott on Tuesday: "For some low-level NFL adviser to come out and say that they are going to micromanage and try to dictate to the state of Texas what types of policies we're going to pass in our state, that's unacceptable.
"We don't care what the NFL thinks and certainly what their political policies are because they are not a political arm of the state of Texas or the United States of America. They need to learn their place in the United States, which is to govern football, not politics."

Not gonna miss the Super Bowl anyway. Between all the strip clubs and the Pats staying at a hotel on Westheimer it was hell getting around uptown.

I blame Roger
The NFL is a shell of itself under him

Abbott needs to concentrate on something else and get the heck out of politics. He's right here, but he's also a shite governor.

Yes!
Goodell needs to focus on his flailing empire and allow voters to run their states.

Texas doing business

If more companies, states and other entities did this, the entire SJW movement would not exist. Quite catering to them and they will go away.

Good plan for a sitting (no pun intended) Governor

Don't mess with Texas

Good. The PC nonsense that the NFL continues to pull is getting old.

sounds like you have an aversion to winning

We need more leaders with balls like this to slap down any group or organization that tries to strongarm the political affairs of states. He's right, the NFL needs to focus on football and stfu about politics.

He's absolutely right.
If the NFL wants to make it part of their decision process that they must agree with every law on the books in a state in order to do business there, then just STFU and do it. Don't try and intimidate a state into policy decisions. Bunch of clowns.

I mean...it's not like the NFL had any power in this issue to begin with. There was never even a fight. No one thought the NFL would be able to influence their decision. If you did, then you don't understand Texas.
Let them make their silly statement. Who gives a frick? We won't listen. If we pass the bill or not, it won't have anything to do with the opinions of the NFL.

Why are most aggies on this board contrarians?
Abbott is doing one hell of a job.

And another straw the NFL places on the camels back. Getting to be a whole lot of straws. NFL sucks. I truly with nobody would watch or attend a game and the whole league would go belly up!

The more PC the NFL gets the lower their TV ratings go.
