Another sign that this next generation (Generation Z) is actually more conservative than the 2-3 previous generations that have come before it.

quote:

American teens may be becoming more conservative about sex.

According to a new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report reflecting data from 2011 to 2015, about 42 percent of girls and about 44 percent of boys ages 15-19 reported that they'd had sex. Both numbers continue a gradual decades-long decline: In 1988, 51 percent of girls and 60 percent of boys in the same age group answered affirmatively on the question of sexual activity.

quote:

The birthrate among American teenagers, at crisis levels in the 1990s, has fallen to an all-time low, according to an analysis released Thursday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

The decline of the past decade has occurred in all regions in the country and among all races. But the most radical changes have been among Hispanic and black teens, whose birthrates have dropped nearly 50 percent since 2006.

Probably inversely related to the number of abortions.

Careful wording.. I'd bet teen pregnancy is actually higher, but this generation gets to abort guilt free.

Have you seen all those democrat nasty women. If I was young and that is all I had to choose from my sex life would be down also.

Or lots of freely available porn "allowing" more young men to not chase after women?

I give stuff like that a very skeptical eye. they depend on people being truthful, and people rarely are. I just saw a statistic that said hospitals report that 70% of babies born in a county in georgia are born out of wedlock. That does not paint a picture of morality or being more conservative. I would like to think it is true...but I don't.

Man, this whole thread is about taking a single statistical talking point and making insanely wild assumptions.

Do you think the extreme rise in homosexuality has something to do with it? I mean the more we "accept" homosexuality the more the kids who just don't fit in go and join that group. Not to mention, the more society cuts dudes nuts off, with things like the "Yes Means Yes" law the less likely they are to have sex. I'm telling you, Obama administration has been effective in getting whites to bang way less and Hispanics and blacks to keep fricking like rabbits!

what i take from this is that i was personally responsible for the high teen pregnancy rate in previous generations.

I truly believe it's a combo of several factors. Yes availability to contraception has led to lower teen pregnancy rates. But so has having less sex. I personally think education by schools but more so parents have led to this. It's amazing what honest conversations do for people
