Nugent also said that he realizes the danger in his hateful rhetoric and that he will no longer associate himself with that type of language. That doesn't excuse his language over the past of course, but it's certainly a step in the right direction.
Even Bill Maher held him up as an example of positive growth in the face of this charged political climate.

Kathy Griffin apologized. The Shakespeare company everyone has been bitching about did THE SAME THING with Obama in 2012 with NO controversy.

And for the record, Nugent had not apologized for openly and repeatedly calling for Obama's killing when Trump invited him to the White House.
