Why don't we slow down these imports. Seriously, All these large companies that don't want to support Trump! frick em! Really! Now would be a great time to crank up manufacturing in the United States. And if you throw in this cost bullshite! Please go somewhere else. Just don't believe that you can make and ship that much shite that far and not have the same profits!

Unfortunately this isn't going to happen. Unless people are ready for a massive increase in cost of goods. Which they aren't
You factor in a reasonable living wage for the workers coupled with the expenses of doing business in America, health care, regulations, employee benefits, etc.... And a pair of sneakers that costs china $2 and takes an hour to make would cost America $20 and we'd never keep up with the demand

Plastic storage containers, simple sheet metal items like mailboxes, grills etc..toys,ELECTRONIC ITEMS.
I remember when we use to make computer parts in the U.S.
I had a job in MAINT. in a factory full of hot womens of all descriptions.
We need to bring that stuff back!

You can pay your money for slightly higher prices on goods that you purchase,or spend it on taxes,to support people who don't work, and have all day and night to create mischief.
I know which one I prefer.

Just don't buy stuff. Food, cars (mostly), fuel, electricity, made in USA. More jobs.

President Trump is about to invoke Section 301 (of the US Trade act of 1974) trade sanctions/investigations against China.
quote:
Last night President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping held a previously scheduled phone call. No doubt the keenly instinctual negotiator President Trump would give the respect of advance notice to Xi Jinping if 301 investigations are going to be announced. Again, what is often forgotten is that modern China has never seen the U.S. launch a 301 trade investigation against it, or anyone else. China’s rise to economic power has been within two prior decades where prior U.S. administrations’ were selling out the American economy using the World Trade Organization (WTO), created in 1995. This is why launching a series of 301 Trade Investigations is such a big deal. The conclusions are drawn from facts, there’s no way to skewer the data or hide the tariff that China applies to U.S. goods. If China applies a 35% import tariff on something, Section 301 allows the U.S. to apply the same tariff to the import of that something from China. When you grasp how much this 301 equalizer can impact trade opponents, and recognize how one-sided our trade deals are with China, you begin to grasp how devastating it will be for China if 301’s are utilized. This is atomic sledgehammer type unidirectional leverage. China has nothing they can do, other than the silly threats they have already made. Now you know why China is using North Korea as their only bargaining chip.

Though I have been called that nickname many times, I went to a high school in North Alabama with different initials, and graduated in 79.

Why would we want to punish China?
Posted on 8/12/17 at 11:50 am to Uncs
But I like Nike. Can we make an exception for them?

How would that be "punishing" China?
Economic reality. China can sell shite elsewhere, right?
