Where does he go from here? Has been on an upward track since entering the Louisiana House in the mid nineties and now Majority Whip. Does he come back home after a governorship next since we know it going blue this go round has been a fluke?

Governor's race is likely going to be crowded. Landry, Kennedy, Graves and Strain are all potential candidates.

You guys know he was appointed by Boehner to toe the Repub elite line of never intending to repeal Obama Care. I heard him on WGSO when asked saying "we" can't do it until we get the house. We gave him the house. Then he said on the same radio station we can't do it until we get the Senate and then the third time excuse was it's too complicated until we get the presidency. He and his buddies never ever intended to get rid of Obama Care.

He's not leaving Washington. He could be in line for a Speakership post if Paul Ryan gets voted out.

Scalise would have far more power as the Speaker of the House than he would as a Senator or Governor.

None of those people mentioned are leaving DC. And nobody with any national viability wants to be governor of this shite hole.

So Landry v Edwards and Edwards wins

Not true. Kennedy and Landry struck a deal. Kennedy is running for Governor in 2019 and if he wins, he will appoint Landry to his Senate seat. The deals are already going out to "clear the field" so to speak for Kennedy.

Graves is staying out. He's not planning to run for Governor any time soon since he is steadily climbing the ranks in the House.

Maness is staying out as well. He is planning to challenge Cassidy again in the Senate.

Strain has no aspiration for the Governor's Mansion to my knowledge. He's just going to keep his post as Ag Commissioner until he hits the needed number for his full state pension retirement benefits.

There is no way the republicans can frick up bad enough to give Edwards a second term. He might as well be packing his bags now, because he won't be in for two terms.

Right, leave the US Senate to be governor of a failed state with a fricked up constitution, high taxes (that he will have to maintain or raise) and a legislature full of dumbasses?

Kennedy is a lot smarter than that.

If you knew anything about how Louisiana's government works, you would know that the governor of Louisiana is essentially a dictator if they're willing and knowledgeable about how to wield that power effectively. The Governor of Louisiana has more executive power over his state than every other governor. That makes the position extremely appealing.

Besides, Kennedy's not getting any younger. This will be the best time for him to run. It's either do it now or wait 4-8 years.

Scalise would be the immediate front runner if he ran for Governor and I hope he does.

He will not have the power as Governor he has as whip however. I suspect his fund raising ability is pretty strong now.
