State Department's Benghazi review panel under investigation, Fox News confirms

This is insane. It has been known that this was needed since March. So now we have the fox guarding the hen houses, house? Any progressive that wants to get smart about this IG's investigation being fair and unbiased and trustworthy. Needs to google IG Gerald Walpin who was FIRED very early on in the Obama administration by Obama. He was fired after he turned in a IG investigation that did not favor well for Obama, his wife and the peace corps cronyism.

quote:

The State Department’s Office of Inspector General is investigating the special internal panel that probed the Benghazi terror attack for the State Department, Fox News has confirmed.

The IG’s office is said by well-placed sources to be seeking to determine whether the Accountability Review Board, or ARB — led by former U.N. Ambassador Thomas Pickering and former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Adm. Mike Mullen — failed to interview key witnesses who had asked to provide their accounts of the Benghazi attacks to the panel.

The IG’s office notified the department of the “special review” on March 28, according to Doug Welty, the congressional and public affairs officer of the IG’s office.

Are you trying to imply that an investigation led by the state department, a part of the executive branch, didn't do it's best to find the distasteful bits of information that make the executive branch look bad? Are you some kind of right wing nut job?

When FOX first reported this last week, Brett Baier noted that the review is of the ARB process in general...not a probe into the ARB or it's Benghazi investigation. I don't know why others at FOX continue to repeat this after it had already been explained.

For the record. Do you think there was a cover up of the facts of benghazi? Does this bother you?

What do you think is being covered up exactly?

Lack of adequate support after the attacks happened (whether it was the right call or not, it would be seen as leaving men behind)

Possible cover-up of delinquency to correctly respond to additional security requests before the attack.

Those are two very reasonable reasons for a cover-up.

All of this was addressed by the ARB, which btw was not exactly nice to the Obama Admin. I think 3-4 State Dept employees were relieved of their duty or reassigned due to the ARB.

Well the ARB is being questioned.

Do you have a problem with trying to get factual answers and trying to find real solutions?

The ARB members have stated today specifically that their scope was VERY narrow in what they were looking for answers for.

Talking point lies didn't fall within it.

No. Ambassador Pickering was ready to testify Wednesday but he was told by committee staff that he was not wanted. Now Issa says he wants to depose Pickering rather than let him testify in a public hearing...Pickering would easily make Issa look terrible in a public hearing.

Correct. I'm pretty sure they looked at most everything else though.

How sure are you they looked "at most everything else"?

What is clear is that they were more interested in pr, than in finding the ones who killed the ambassador, and the other 3. They didn't even release the picture of the killers until recently.
Why?
Why has nobody been arrested?

Everyone remember the bombing in Turkey a few days ago that killed several people? Heard on the news that Turkey had 8 suspects in custody two days after the bombing.

How many has the US arrested in the Benghazi attack?

re: State Department's Benghazi review panel under investigation, Fox News confirms
It is simply amazing the amount of self-investigation done by the Obama administration that has found nothing amiss in any of the mistakes made by the administration. Not a single recommendation to admonish senior personnel for negligence. Not a single finding of incompetence by a political appointee or senior career burueacrat. Somehow, the Obama administration is beyond reproach in all matters. Never acting for selfish purposes, just victims of bad luck. Never bad decision making.

Have I got that right? Even Bill Clinton fired incompetent appointees, or asked them to resign. How many appointees has Obama fired, or asked to resign?
