So the consensus here is that the Republicans should refuse to do the things that are inherent in their constitutionally mandated jobs, including working with the opposition to solve problems if at all possible, and simply behave as petulant ideologues. Right?
No, I think that people are saying that they should let Obama get his way. When it does not work - and it won't - then say "I told you so" and take over.
Democrats cannot govern if they are not blaming everything bad that happens on someone else or on them not getting their way. They had both branches of government for 2 years and a fillibuster-proof majority in the Senate for part of that time and accomplished nothing but a stimulus that did not work and a Health Care plan that is a disaster.
The Democrats have done nothing to help us, but they have effectively blamed Republicans for everything as they are aided by their media machine. So, just step aside and let them wreck the place.
There will be no spending cuts. Everyone knows this. Tax increases will only add about $500-600 billion in revenue. We will still run historic deficits that will only increase as the economy goes into recession again. Then, the revenue will decrease and spending will go up even more as we try to do more stimulus spending.
By the end of Obama's second term, I would not be surprised at all if we are running $2-2.5 Trillion deficits. Somehow, the Democrats will blame Republicans for merely existing, though.
