He was not good enough to be drafted. No difference between him and potential drafts that drop a few rounds for off the field stuff. Or Manziel being drafted higher than he should because of merchandising.

The fact that he was not successful in the NFL has nothing to do with his choice of lollipop, and everything to do with the fact that he was not an NFL caliber defenseive end in the first place.

Too small to be a DE, too slow to be an OLB. Hell he got a lot more of a shot than most. Even got drafted by St Louis which was terrible and would have loved a story to get a local kid on the team with all the surrounding pub.

Although like Tim Tebow, when you compare them to players at their mediocre level, I think the non-football relayed notoriety probably gave them a lesser chance than those without it.
