Some things you may not know about Hampshire College

I apologize on behalf of conservative academia (it does exist, but its rather small and quiet) for how my colleagues across the nation act. But this Hampshire College deal is ridiculous. If you didn't know, Hampshire removed the American flag from its campus. It shouldn't be a surprise, as Hampshire is located in ultra liberal Amherst, Massachusetts (a city that boasts five colleges!). The city itself flies the UN flag instead of the American flag at city hall.
So what about Hampshire?
Hampshire is by far the most liberal of the five colleges in Amherst. Think about it like this - the most conservative college in town is UMass, and they are left of Centenary.
They do not give grades. No A's, B's or F;s. They rely on narrative evaluations.
They produce lifelong students. They are in the top 30 nationally for students that go on to graduate school, and #1 for humanities Ph.Ds.
They allow students to select their own major. Most colleges have some sort of Interdisciplinary major. The college I work for allows students to combine a business degree with say, a computer science degree to become more marketable. But Hampshire is different. They truly allow students to select their own major.
Students have majored in frisbee golf, basketweaving and Quidich (the fictional sport from Harry Potter)
It is one of the few brick and mortar colleges that do not sponsor athletics at any level.
Despite being small, they have an extraordinary number of alumni in journalism, screenwriting, film and other media.
Tuition? Only $62,000, among the highest in the world.
They have 1410 students and an endowment of $40 million. They will not survive this.

I saw one of their recruitment videos. It looks like somewhat of a shite hole.

I celebrate their demise.

Sounds a lot like Port Chester University.

I wonder if they have lectures on the failures of the moderate Bolshevik party, and how they were too moderate to really bring about the utopia.

Of course not.

I guess if your parents are rich enough to afford to send you to get a Quidich degree for $62,000, they are rich enough that you won't have to work.

Are they an accredited university and if so how can they be one without issuing grades?

I'm convinced that most of these turn into the professionally offended and/or professional protesters.

I just hope the one that was prophesied, the one that will come, will show no mercy to left wing college professors and news media. If the evil one that's coming does half of what I want to do to them, to them.........well let's just say they're in deep trouble. Left wing college professors and alphabet news media employees better get on their knees and thank GOD in Heaven I'm not the evil one.

I would literally fight my kid if I paid 62k and found out they were majoring in this shite.

Why should I, or anyone else for that matter, give a rats arse about any of this?

You cared enough to post about a subject you don't care about?

Sounds like a good place for about 5000 patriots to have a peaceful protest. Just right outside the school grounds. Watch the little snowflakes squirm a bit.

how the frick do they get into any type of grad school if they don't have any grades to compare against someone from a legit school?

I'm guessing the grad schools they get in to are all based on feelz too.

If I had a kid that wanted to go to a school with no letter grades they would find all of their possessions outside. I wouldn't pay for them to major in something outside of stem, business or the like.

This is likely, they wouldn't fair well at a legitimate school after 4 years of stupid bullshite

There are millions who think that way ... you are not alone.
Lightening bolts, acts of God, neutron bombs, asteroids, lasers and particle beams that leave nothing but their clothes (ala War of the Worlds), etc ... it's playing God and it's been in the minds of men, on both sides, forever.
That's because sometimes there are small segments of people that are so destructive, so divisive, s cancerous that one might be left wondering why they are even allowed to exist. They serve no purpose that we know of ... yet, you never know.

Not to change the subject, but all this drama on college campuses should do one thing.
Parents should do more to investigate the colleges and specific programs their children are going into. There are pockets of conservatism. Some smaller religious affiliated colleges are very good academically, and dont spout liberal propaganda. The doctoral program I went through at LSU is very liberal now. No way I would send my children to be taught by some of those professors.
We as parents have to help our college bound children look past the three S's- size, sizzle and sports.
