Some people scratch out a living on 40 hours, and wouldn't make it on much less. Not everybody works long weeks because they are trying to get rich. Many of them are just trying to make it.

IMO, the same rules should not apply to labor jobs and office jobs.

I think the number of hours is bull shite and just caters to the lowest common denominator. Like dumbing down school for people.

Regardless of field, it should be 100% about getting the job done and the value you can add and 0.00% about the number of hours per week you are physically on the job.

In fact, people should be looked at as less capable that spend more time on the job to get something done.

Good luck getting this to fly in any of the professional services jobs.

Although I do agree with you and was one of the reasons consulting drove me crazy when I did it.

There needs to be a number at which point it starts costing the company more to keep you there. With alot of jobs, you finish early and there's another one waiting. It's not like there's a set thing for you to do and then you sit on your arse the rest of the day just to make the time. There are places where people bust arse 100% of the time they are on the clock.

I saw a video of this guy in California and all he did was collect food stamps and surfed all day with his friends. He didn't seem stressed at all. It's that what you mean?

Are you trying to make a point here? First your out of context Obama comment, now this. This has nothing to do with the unemployed, obviously.

My point is jackwang that 50% of people don't work at all and some on here are advocating less work!

be a healthier happier society is 30 hours was the "standard" work week.

People bitch about having to wait at the doctor's office now. Just think if we only worked 30hrs/wk.

What? Quit using children and students irrelevantly in a statistic to bolster your hatred of Obama.

Why? Obama is constantly using children and students to bolster his causes.

I don't work to be rich or buy nice things, I work to support my family. I have a wife and son who are reliant on my ability to do my job. Just because I work > 40 hours a week doesn't mean I'm not happy, the two aren't mutually exclusive.
