So, what's the health care overhaul looking like?

I saw today that the Republicans in Congress have said that it will take three years to come up with an alternative to the ACA, and that repealing it before then would be unfeasible.

That's not acceptable. People having to continue paying ridiculous premiums with ridiculous deductibles is not winning or making anything great again. It's three more years of making what to many amounts to a house payment - for what is basically just catastrophic coverage.

I really don't care if they repeal before replacing it, not matter how long that takes. A lot of people are sick of being "those according to their ability" feeding a rapidly expanding pool of "those according to their need." Tell me I'm not going to have to wait three years for this to end.

I think you midread.

Repeal immediately.
3 year target for replacement legislation.

Seen it that way in multiple publications

Bad idea. It'll throw a lot of people off their insurance.

The Democrats threw millions of people off their insurance, and look at what happened to them. It'll be even worse with the repeal because CNN will run constant sob stories instead of dismissing the people who lost their coverage as dumb rubes.

Plus repeal won't necessarily put the toothpaste back in the tube. If we don't see a return to reasonable premiums and consumer choice by November 2018, it could get ugly for the GOP.

That's exactly what I said.

And the time of letting the media drive policy should come to a crashing halt. Their influence is not as concrete as they and a lot of others thought it was. frick their sob stories. People with ridiculous premiums will jump for joy. The rest were never going to vote Republican anyway.

What is going to be in place as far as regulation of health insurance during the time period after repeal, but before replacement?

this and the cost of health insurance has been on a steady climb since the mid 70's - ACA can be repealed first day in, but, cost will still rise - baby boomers are starting to age and they will vote, nasty results for gop on the midterm elections.
